In bulletin SEBF9008, Cat recommends installing Stainless Steel insert
Cat # 179-5410 into the decks of blocks, at the coolant passage, if:
 #1 The pitting is deeper than .005”,
#2 If the pitting has occurred completely around the coolant passage.
This normally requires removing the block from the truck, and disassembling the engine,
and taking it to a machine shop to have it set up in a milling machine to
counterbore the deck of the block, to install these inserts.
Rutts Machine is now equipped to install these
Cat warranty approved inserts,or our own brass or cast iron inserts, (less costly)
 while the engine is still in the truck. (Liners can still be installed)
