1955 pontiac 287

This motor looked untouched, until me.  I was changing the valve springs for the customer on the car. The springs where doubles with a spring bucket on either the exhaust or the intake, not both. The bucket came off with the spring and I did not see which one they came off. Anyone seen this? 1955 pontiac 287 2 bl. .

Thanks

Re: 1955 pontiac 287

Are you refering to the splashers that are over the top of the spring?
Looking in an old chilton manual, pictures show that all springs had these.

Yes, this engine only has eight, I put them on the intakes. THe motor manuals I have did not show these.
Thanks for the help.

Re: 1955 pontiac 287

i would also install them on the intakes. The clearances used back then they would help reduce oil consumption
