    Block Weight 1 piece seal V 2 piece seal block

    Hey Guys
    Has anyone actually weighted these blocks to get an accurate weight??
    I am looking at using a newer vortec block for a race class with limited HP to reduce weight

    Any info regarding real world weights will be greatly apreciated

    Not very scientific but I put one of each on the bathroom scale

    2 pc 2 bolt main without caps   3970010  150 lbs
    1 pc 4 bolt main without caps  14093638 145 lbs

    I have been checking weights all day and did not really find much difference either.
    But the older 60's blocks appear to be about 170 - 175 lbs where the newer mid 90's vortec blocks are about what you found in the 145 -150 lb range.

    Scogin Dicky had new GM blocks with 2 piece seal for $789.46 and the 1 piece at 800 and change.
