I've got a van Norman model 477 crankshaft grinder that I can't get to grind better than .0005 out of round, and it takes some finesse at best. Only thing I can think is bearings in the head/tailstock are just too worn. Anyone have any ideas, or someone I could talk to about this machine? Van Norman is of no help on anything this old, but I can't justify replacing it. The machine is located about an hour north of Atlanta, so if I have to pay someone to walk me through it, I'd rather it be someone in the southeast.
